Stinger cementation

Basic procedure:

  • a) Circulate (annulus and string contents)
  • b) Pump pre-flush or marker ahead
  • c) Pump slurry until {¡) returns are seen
  • ii) marker is seen
  • iii) returns are considered impossible
  • d) Displace stinger contents using mud
  • e) Watch casing/string annulus for returns during entire job
  • f) Check for back flow
  • g) Pull stinger. Do not rotate

CALCULATE

  • a) Quantity of cement and mixwater required
  • b) Thickening time and compressive strength
  • c) Volume to displace cement from stinger
  • d) Total time for job
  • e) Pressure differential (in case of float shoe failure) <f) Annular velocity
  • g) Total mud returns
  • h) Will casing float
